Boucher arranged the meeting to propose a potential theme park site in Wythe County, since Disney decided against building one in Northern Virginia.
The Wythe County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night to authorize Benny Burkett, executive director of the Joint Wythe Industrial Development Authority, to attend. A spokeswoman in Burkett's office said Wednesday that he would not go because, at this early stage of talks, there is no need for him to attend.
Boucher spoke Wednesday to the Wytheville Rotary Club and said that even if Disney did not choose a Wythe site near the crossroads of Interstates 81 and 77, there was a good chance some other company would put a theme park there.
About 2,500 acres owned by J.C. Weaver of Clearwater, Fla., are being proposed as a potential site.
