The Roanoke Chapter of The Links Inc. will hold its second annual gala to benefit adult care Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. at the Sheraton Inn Airport.
The Links will recognize several residents in education, medicine, religion, business, law, arts and civic affairs. Proceeds from the $25-per person tickets will be used to provide grants for adult-care services.
The chapter, on its 44th anniversary, recently presented a grant to the Adult Day Care Center at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem to assist with the care of a patient. The money was raised during the group's first gala in 1993.
The Links is a volunteer women's service organization concerned with enhancing the quality of life in the community by focusing on education, cultural ennrichment, health and wellness, and civic involvement.

Museum compiling historical narrative
Harrison Museum of African Culture and Dr. Walter Claytor are compiling data for a narrative on black educational history in the Roanoke Valley.
The museum is soliciting student's names, schools and years of graduation from blacks born in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem who completed post-secondary education. Photos and copies of degrees may be included.
