STAGG LUNCH TO FEATURE HORNUNG

Paul Hornung, the 1956 Heisman Trophy winner from Notre Dame and a Pro Football Hall of Famer with the Green Bay Packers, will be the guest speaker at the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl Awards Luncheon on the eve of the NCAA Division III football championship game in Salem.

The luncheon will be attended by the team members and coaches from the Division III finalists, who will play for the title at noon Dec.10. The banquet is at noon Dec. 9 at the Salem Civic Center. Tickets are $15 and are on sale at the civic center box office.

About one-third of the Stagg Bowl game tickets have been sold. Carey Harveycutter, the bowl's director, said sales of 2,344 for the game at the 7,300-seat stadium are about 100 behind last year's pace. Game tickets, also available at the civic center box office, are $8 for adults and $5 for fans of high school age or younger.

Harveycutter said three Stagg Bowl corporate sponsorship packages also are available. Details on those plans may be obtained at the Salem Civic Center box office.
