FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION BY PULASKI COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious fire at a Little Creek residence and the theft of tools from a house under construction in Draper Valley.

Capt. Donnie Simpkins said the fire was reported Wednesday at 9:40 a.m.

The double-wide home belongs to Joseph and Julie Cruff. No one was home when the fire was discovered. Simpkins said the fire caused extensive damage and may have started in two different places in the house. A damage estimate was not available Thursday.

The Sheriff's Office also is investigating the theft of more than $7,000 in construction tools from a house being built near the Draper Valley Golf Course.

The break-in happened sometime between Tuesday night and Thursday morning. It was reported Robert G. Davis of Wytheville.

Simpkins said someone pushed a window open and took various carpenters tools including drills, screwdrivers, saws and other electric equipment.

Both the fire and the break-in are still under investigation. Anyone with information may confidentially call the Sheriff's Office's Crime Line at 980-7810.
