LIBERTY SCARES NO. 1 AMHERST

Alonzo Matthews ran 11 yards for a touchdown with 1 minute, 24 seconds remaining as unbeaten Amherst, ranked No. 1 in the state in Group AA, defeated Liberty 10-7 and avoided a monumental Seminole District upset.

The game was scoreless for a half before quarterback Mike Padgett scored on a 1-yard run to give the Minutemen (4-4 overall, 4-4 Seminole District) a 7-0 lead after three quarters.
