ARMENTROUT, Beulah Brown, 83, of Front Royal, died Friday, October 28, 1994. Mrs. Armentrout was born September 4, 1911 in Sperryville, daughter of the late Atha Lewis and Esther Jenkins Brown. She was married to the late Frank Robert Armentrout Sr. Surviving are sons, William, of Radford, Edward, of Sperryville, and Robert Jr., of Herndon; brother, James Floyd Brown, Front Royal; sisters, Catherine Wayland and Lucy Creel, both of Culpeper; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Front Royal, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 14 W. COMER, Ellen Rebecca, of Dublin, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, October 28, 1994. She was a retired elementary school principal with the Roanoke City School System and a member of West End United Methodist Church. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Ira D Lower Jr., Roanoke, Dr. James Comer, Moneta, Mrs. Ruth Craig, Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Jackie Stepp, Tampa, Fla., and Warren Lower, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a number of great-nieces and nephews; and a devoted companion, Mrs. Edna Tice Weaver, Dublin. Funeral services will be at the graveside in Evergreen Burial Park, 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 1994. The Rev. Bernard S. Via Jr. will officiate. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

DUDLEY, Inez Pierce, 77, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 1994. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth B. ELLEDGE, Raline Osborne, 64, of Marion, died Saturday, October 29, 1994 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Elledge, Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Carey Quarles, Fort Collins, Colorado; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Debbie Osborne, Sparta, N.C.; three stepsons, Jerry Elledge, Jacksonville, N.C., Ernest (Bucky) Elledge, Marion, and Carl Gene Elledge, Chilhowie; two grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren; one brother, Herbert Barr, Piney Creek, N.C.; special sisters-in-law, Agnes Osborne, Sparta, N.C. and Evelyn Cox, Marion. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31, 1994, at 2 p.m. in the Osborne Memorial Baptist Church in Piney Creek, N.C., with the Rev. Mark Totton and the Rev. Russell Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The b ody will be taken to the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

HALL, Shirley Morton Jr., 64, of Ceres, formerly of Pulaski, passed away Friday, October 28, 1994. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday from the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

HUNT, Fred Roy, 91, of 2110 Stephenson Avenue, S.W., Roanoke, died Saturday, October 29,1994. Mr. Hunt, a Roanoke native, was a prominent businessman until his retirement in August of 1972. He was the Founder of Fox-Hunt-Loyd Clothing Co. in 1940 and was the sole owner of the firm at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Lakeland Lodge #190 A.F. and A.M. and served as Master of the lodge in 1941. He was also a charter member of Webber High 12 Lodge #282. He was a K.C.C.H. of the Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies, a member of Kazim Shrine Temple and the Roanoke Valley Shrine Club. Mr. Hunt was a Past Counsellor of Roanoke Council #174 United Commercial Travelers and a Past Grand Counsellor of the U.C.T. of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and D.C. in 1966, winning his honors that year. He was a member of the Grand Counsellors Association. He was also a member of Mountain Dale #49 I.O.O.F. He had been a member of the Roanoke Kawanis Club since 1945. Mr. Hunt was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served on official board and committees, as a Sunday School teacher, as Superintendent of the Adult Department, and for five years as General Superintendent of the Sunday School. In 1936 Mr. Hunt was the founder of a class for young men which later become the Hunt Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Garland Hunt; and a sister, Mrs. Lois Cumbie Henderson Young. The funeral service will be at Oakey's South Chapel 3 p.m. Monday, October 31, 1994, with the Rev. Dr. Harry Y. Gamble and the Rev. M. Dennis Herman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemtery. Friends may call at the South chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 1994. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Hunt Bible Class. The Masonic service at the grave will be conducted by Lakeland Lodge #190 A.F. and A.M. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Foundation or to Kazim's Temple Crippled Childrens Hospital Fund.

JENNINGS, James Henry, 90, of Galax, died Friday, October 28, 1994, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. He was born in Carroll County, on August 18, 1904 to the late Alexander L. Jennings and Nora Burnett Jennings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Bedsaul Jennings. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Velma J. and Virgil B. Martin of Roanoke; one grandson, Winfred T. Martin of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Dora J. Ring of Elkin, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel, Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Davis and the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.

JOHNSON, Annie M., 63, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, October 27, 1994. Survivors include one aunt, Gaynell R. Wright of Vinton; one uncle, Harmon W. LANE, Rena P., of Route 1, Mountain City, Tenn., died Saturday, October 29, 1994, in the Watauga County Hospital, Boone, N.C. Mrs. Lane was a native of Konorock, Va. and was a daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Della Lou Jetta Barr Johnson. She was a retired Postmistress having served 25 years in the postal service. She was a member of the 2nd Day Advent Christian Church, a member of the retired Postmaster association, a former member of the O.E.S., Welch, W.Va. and was preceded in death by husband, Conley Triss Lane, and a grandson Conley W. L ane. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Tschanz, Mountain City, Tenn.; two sons, Charles David Lane, Gary, W.Va., James Conley Lane, Roanoke; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday from the Chapel of the Percy-Hux Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Trivette officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Love, Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tenn. Pallbarers will be Jim Lane, Rick Greer, Eddie Lipford, Kenny Watson, David Garland, Harold Shoemaker. McNULTY, Elma Evelyn Trulock, 82, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 28, 1994 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Thornwell B. and Betty P. Trulock. A native of Columbus, Ga., she graduated from Columbus High School and the Georgia State College for Women. As a military wife, she was hostess to the Diplomatic Corps at the Court of the Shah of Iran, as well as to Eleanor Roosevelt, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, who is now the present queen, and others. Surviving are her husband, William A. McNulty; daughter and son-in-law, Betty McNulty Kuyk and Dirk A. Kuyk Jr., Chester, Mass.; son and daughter-in-law, William P. McNulty and Barbara McGowan McNulty, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Dirk A. Kuyk III, Roanoke, Tracy McNulty Thornton, Antioch, Ill., John A. Mc Nulty, Mundelein, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the graveside in Evergreen Burial Park, 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 1994, with the Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell officiating. PAINTER, Dalton Lee, 69, of Buena Vista, died Friday, October 28, 1994, in a Richmond hospital. He was born on March 13, 1925 in Botetourt County, a son of the late Matthew Henry Painter and Mamie Campbell Painter. Mr. Painter was a retired driver with Hatcher Trucking in Roanoke. He was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. Mr. Painter served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Also, he was a member of the American Legion Post #126. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Davis Painter of Buena Vista; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry Lee Painter and Patr icia Ann Painter, Midlothian; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Diane Painter Dunlap and William H. Dunlap of Sterling; one brother, Adrian M. Painter of Emory; three sisters, Mrs. Christie P. Bowers of Portsmouth, Mrs. Carnell P. Rock of Penhook, Mrs. Margaret P. Gilmer of Harpers Ferry, W. Va.; two grandchildren, Shelley P. Jones of Fredericksburg and Michael Shane Painter of Midlothian. Graveside services, with military honors, will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, October 31, 1994 in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Stan Middleton officiating. ROSE, Vida Lee, 88, of Independence, (Bridle Creek Community) passed away Friday, October 28, 1994. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday, Reins-Sturdivant Chapel.

SIMPKINS, Hubert Willie, 61, of Snowville, died Saturday morning, October 29, 1994, after a long battle with Hodgkin's Disease, lymphatic cancer. He was a humble child of God, beloved husband, father and friend. Born June 6, 1933, he was a son of the late Reupard Willie Simpkins and Stella Wilson Simpkins. He was a Grade A dairy farmer and worked at Burlington Industries in Dublin for 20 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Marshall Simpkins. They were married October 29, 1955 and would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on the day he died. Also surviving are two daughters, Wanda P. Simpkins and Debra S. Mills; one special son-in-law, Nathan D. Mills; two special grandchildren, Leslie Mills and Matthew Mills; three brothers, Troy V. Simpkins, Paul D. Simpkins, and Wilbur R. Simpkins; and two special neighbors, Tim Cox and Kevin Cox, whom he thought of as sons. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 31, 1994, at Wilsons Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Snowville, with Elder Sidney Rakes officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpkins Family Cemetery in Snowville. Floral remembrances will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the New River Valley Hospice. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 1994 at De Vilbiss Funeral Home in Radford.
