TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVER KILLED IN CRASH ON I-81

A truck driver died Monday after losing control of the tractor-trailer he was driving.

State police said Thomas Joe Adams, 49, of Gainesville, Ga., was pronounced dead 75 minutes after the 4:30 a.m. single-vechicle wreck on Interstate 81 near Christiansburg.

Adams was driving north, one half mile past mile-marker 120 when his tractor-trailer ran off the right side of the road, police said. Adams apparently overcorrected and the rig came back onto the highway and overturned, hitting a guardrail several times.

Adams was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital, where he died at 5:45 a.m.
