COACH GETS SECURITY IN NORFOLK

Darnell Moore, who has guided Norfolk State to a 5-3 record since being named the Spartans' interim coach May 14, was given the job on a permanent basis.

``We are removing the interim from his title because we think it is a step in the right direction that will enhance his efforts as the recruiting season gets under way in the high school circles,'' said Harrison B. Wilson, the school's president.

Moore's record represents Norfolk State's best won-lost mark since the 1991 team went 7-3.

Norfolk State has games remaining on its schedule against Lane and Kentucky State.
