MAN DIES AFTER FALL FROM CAR

A 28-year-old Roanoke man died Sunday after he fell from an open window of a car about 12:55 a.m. in East Salem, police said.

Henry M. Matthews Jr., of the 1300 block of Clarke Avenue Southwest, was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and died from head injuries at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Matthews and his brother, Joel W. Matthews, 22 - of the same address in Roanoke - were driving west on Tarpley Lane. Henry Matthews was sitting on the edge of an open window when he apparently lost his balance and fell to the road, hitting his head.
