Lynetta Johnson scored seven of her 15 points in the second quarter as Bassett (16-3 overall, 15-2 district) outscored the Lancers 22-7 in the second quarter after leading by only three at the end of one quarter.
Heather Burke added 12 for the Bengals, who can clinch a tie for the district title with a win Thursday night.
The Lancers (4-15, 4-13) were led by freshman Brandy Martin, who scored 13 points. Tonya Martin added 11 points and Toy Perkins chipped in 10.

MARTINSVILLE - Sam Ferguson scored 20 points and Tresita Holland sparked Martinsville's defense with nine steals as the Bulldogs overcame a sluggish start and whipped the Cougars in a Piedmont game.
Martinsville (16-3, 15-2), which had 17 steals as a team, outscored Patrick County (10-10, 10-7) 46-22 in the final three quarters after leading 18-15 after the first quarter. Erica Brandon finished with 19 points for the Bulldogs. Holland had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win, Martinsville remained in a first-place tie with Bassett, a winner over Laurel Park.

COLLINSVILLE - T.J. Hayes scored all 10 of her points in the fourth quarter to help the Cavaliers hold off a stubborn Tunstall team in a Piedmont District game.
Yvonne Hall scored a game-high 23 points - 13 in the third quarter - to lead the Cavaliers (13-6, 12-5) and Cicely Becker added 16.
The Trojans kept the game with a balanced attack led by Stephanie Brumfield, who scored a team-high 18 points. Tunstall got 12 points from Melissa Dixon and 10 from Brynn Hughes.

HOT SPRINGS - Melanie Woods sank two free throws with eight seconds remaining to boost the Chargers past the Knights in a Pioneer District game.
Katie Hardbarger scored a career-high 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had four steals and two blocks for Bath County. Tiffany Cox had 15 points for James River.

MONTEREY - Glenvar wrapped up the Pioneer District championship by thrashing Highland.
The Highlanders led 18-3 at the end of a quarter and 34-7 by halftime.
Four players scored in double figures for Glenvar (17-2, 11-0), led by Marilea Hale's 22 points. Toree Morris scored 12, and Amanda Bishop and Erika Hale added 10 each.
Highland (2-17, 0-11) was limited to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.

LOW MOOR - The Cavaliers stayed in the hunt for the Blue Ridge title by pressing the Mountaineers early and building a 13-point halftime lead.
Sarah Hicks scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first quarter, as Lord Botetourt (14-5, 7-2) took a 16-7 first-quarter lead. The Cavaliers expanded the lead the rest of the night.
Jennifer Snodgrass scored 10 points for the Cavaliers.
Alleghany (8-11, 3-9), victimized by turnovers and missed layups early on, was led by Tasha Chapman's 12 points.

Rockbridge County 40
The Vikings attained their highest scoring total of the season in a Blue Ridge District win over the winless Wildcats.
Every player scored for Northside (6-11, 3-6), led by Terri Craig's 19 points. Amy Heath had 13.
Tonia Clements finished with 18 for Rockbridge (0-18, 0-9), including 10 in the fourth quarter.

Galax 43
GALAX - Amy Lyons rebounded a missed shot, made the basket, and got fouled with seven seconds left to give Fort Chiswell an upset victory over Galax in a Mountain Empire District game and prevent the Maroon Tide from clinching at least a tie for the district title.
Lyons rebounded a missed shot by Jenny Porter and then made the free throw after getting fouled. Galax (14-5, 7-2) had taken a one-point lead, 43-42, after Jaclyn Dickens, who led Galax with 14 points, made a 3-pointer.
Galax had its chances throughout the game, but was victimized by poor free throw shooting and foul trouble. The Maroon Tide made 4 of 18 free-throw attempts and missed two crucial one-and-one's in the final quarter.
Tammy Cox, one of Timesland's leading scorers, fouled out early in the fourth quarter and scored only eight points after spending much of the game on the bench in foul trouble.
Fort Chiswell (5-13, 5-4) was led by Trish Stuart, who scored a game-high 16 points. Lyons added 10.
