ATTORNEYS APPOINTED FOR BROTHERS

Attorneys have been appointed for two brothers charged with capital murder in the shooting of their father early Monday in his home outside Galax.

William Spencer ``Willie'' Gammon, 20, will be represented by Jonathan Venzie. Chris Gammon, 16, will be defended by James Ward. No preliminary hearing dates have been set.

The brothers were arrested in Henry County after a chase and charged with killing Gary A. Gammon, 42, at his mobile home on Route 3, Galax.

They also are charged with attempted capital murder in the shooting of his wife, Rebecca Gammon, who was listed in critical condition in intensive care Wednesday night at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The pair also is charged with two counts of using a firearm in a felony, and robbery. Willie Gammon, as the driver of the car in the police chase, faces charges in Henry County for failure to stop for police and for reckless driving.
