PHOTO CONTEST IN CRAIG

The goal of the contest, which is open to Craig County and non-Craig County residents, is to capture a photo record of the county's scenic beauty, historic sites, serene places and character, said Diane Lee, tourism coordinator.

The deadline for for entries is Nov. 10.

Lee said photographs - black and white or color - and slides must have been taken in Craig within the previous 12 months to be eligible for the contest. Photographs should be from 5x7 inches to 11x14. Each entry must be accompanied by a 3x5-inch card bearing the name, address and phone number of the photographer and the identification of the place the picture was taken.

Lee said prizes, up to $50, will be awarded in two categories - adult (over 18 years of age) and teen-age (13 to 18 years of age), with $100 going to the Best in Show.

No photographs will be returned, Lee said, and none will be displayed or published without the consent of the photographer.

Photos can be submitted at the county administrator's office at Main and Court streets in New Castle or mailed to Diane Lee at P.O. Box 308, New Castle, Va. 24127.
