PEMBROKE - The Eastern-Giles Fall Arts and Crafts Festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Eastern Elementary School, on U.S. 460.

There will many craft items and lots of food. The event is sponsored by the Pembroke Montage Association.

\ Financial lecture

RADFORD - Financial whiz and author Laura Pedersen will speak at Radford University's Preston Auditorium Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.

Pedersen is the author of "Play Money: My Brief But Brilliant Career on Wall Street" and "Street-Smart Career Guide: Success Through the Back Door." At 20, she became the youngest person to get a seat in stock market history. She was a partner in a Wall Street firm by 21, and a millionaire by the next year.

Admission is free.

Big Brothers, Sisters

CHRISTIANSBURG - Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New River Valley will hold a volunteer orientation Tuesday, Nov. 8, 6 p.m., at the Christiansburg Library, 125 Sheltman St.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have access to a vehicle and be able to serve four hours a week for one year or three semesters if a student. Two forms of photographic identification are required.
