MILTON, GILES KEEP ROLLING WITH BIG WIN

INDEPENDENCE - Raypheal Milton churned out 209 yards of total offense, rushed for two touchdowns and passed for one as Giles won its 23rd consecutive game with a 42-8 non-district blowout of Grayson County on Friday night.

Milton rushed for 113 yards and and completed three of six passes for 96 yards as the Spartans (9-0) moved to the brink of their second consecutive unbeaten regular season.

Most of Milton's damage came in the first two quarters. Giles used a 27-point second quarter to take a 35-0 lead. The Blue Devils (2-7) totaled 164 yards of offense, 67 of that coming in the fourth quarter.

Milton put the Spartans on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Chris Ratcliffe opened the second-quarter deluge with a 3-yard touchdown run, followed by an 11-yard touchdown dash by Milton, a 4-yard scoring run by Raypheal's twin brother, Maurice, and a 26-yard touchdown pass from Raypheal Milton to Reggie Hoston.

Jason Byrd scored for Grayson County on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

NARROWS - The Green Wave (6-3 overall, 2-1 district) trampled the Maroon Tide (3-6, 1-3) with 410 rushing yards in a surprisingly one-sided Mountain Empire District matchup. In the process, Narrows revived its district championship hopes.

The Green Wave (6-3, 2-1) visits Fort Chiswell on Nov.11 in a game that will decide the title. The Pioneers, who beat Bland County on Friday night, have no district losses; Narrows and Bland County have one each.

Norman Perkins rushed for 167 yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns for the Green Wave.

Shawsville 6

SHAWSVILLE - Junior quarterback Corey Willis ran for one touchdown and passed for another to lead the Highlanders to a non-district victory over the Shawnees.

Eric East led the ground game for Glenvar (5-4) with 94 yards on 19 carries. The Highlanders had 213 yards rushing while limiting Shawsville (1-8) to 46.

Shawsville got its only score of the night in the fourth quarter, when quarterback Chris Graham completed a 3-yard pass to Cory Dow.
