Fund-raiser planned

The Conflict Resolution Center, the Roanoke Valley's mediation and alternative dispute resolution center, will hold its annual fund-raiser Nov. 20, from 2-5 p.m., at Mr. Su's Restaurant on the Roanoke City Market.

The event includes a silent auction, music by Stacey Hobbs, and coffee and desserts by Wildflour Cafe and Catering, Brothers Bakery, and Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea.

Conflict workshop

``Embracing the Human Mosaic: Diversity Challenges and Opportunities,'' a workshop presented by the Conflict Resolution Center, will be held Nov. 18, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at the Second Presbyterian Church, 214 Mountain Ave., Roanoke.

The workshop consists of activities designed to enhance personal reflection and individual discovery of the issues of diversity. Facilitators for the workshop are Gayle C. Stoner, director of leadership development at Hollins College, and Peggy A. Shifflett, professor of sociology at Radford University.

The $50 fee includes materials and lunch. Call 342-2063.

Football game bus trip

A bus trip to the 100th football game between Randolph-Macon College and Hampden-Sydney College is being sponsored by the Roanoke alumni clubs of both schools.

The game will be played Saturday at Hampden-Sydney.

The $20 cost per person includes a box lunch with beverages and a $5 donation to either college. All alumni, parents and friends of the schools are welcome to attend.

Ex-Roanoker honored

Former Roanoke resident Ernest Johnson has received first place at the Watercolor Society of North Carolina's semiannual juried exhibit in Lenior, N.C., for his painting, ``Shell Hunters.''

Now a North Carolina resident, he owns a studio gallery in Oriental, N.C.

Storytelling group

The Virginia Storytelling Association will hold an organizational meeting Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Hancock Room of Roanoke City's Main Library, 706 S. Jefferson St.

Anyone with an interest in preserving the oral tradition is invited to attend.
