BLACKSBURG WINS PLAYOFF

Lisa Price got Blacksburg started and Andrea Feret finished Carroll County in the fourth quarter as the Indians came away with a 54-45 victory Saturday night in a New River District girls' basketball playoff game.

Blacksburg, Carroll County and Christiansburg finished the regular season with identical 2-2 district records to force the playoff. By virtue of the victory, Blacksburg will play Christiansburg in Hillsville on Monday night to determine who will be the regular-season champion and the top seed in the tournament.

Price helped the Indians get off to a strong start, scoring 10 of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter. Feret took over in the fourth, scoring nine of her 11 points.

Blacksburg made six of nine free throws in the fourth quarter, with Feret hitting three of four to help the Indians win. April Rogers added 11 points for the Indians.

No Carroll County player scored in double figures, but the Cavaliers did see Bethany Hill return to the lineup after she was sidelined for a couple of weeks with a heart condition.
