2 SHOT, KILLED IN RIDGEWAY TRAILER PARK

A Henry County woman and a North Carolina man were shot to death Sunday afternoon in a Ridgeway trailer park - she as she sat in her car, and he as he ran for his life. The woman's estranged husband turned himself in at the Sheriff's Office a few hours later.

Germaine M. Pritchett, 33, of Martinsville, and Jerry Wayne Dickerson, 43, of Eden, N.C., had just arrived at the King's Mill Trailer Court about noon when the shooting began, a Henry County Sheriff's Office news release said. Police said a man approached Pritchett's car with a handgun and shot her through the passenger door glass.

Dickerson, who was outside the car, ran toward some nearby woods but was shot in the neck as he ran, according to the release. He disappeared into the woods, but was found later by a deputy with a tracking dog and a team of rescue workers.

Dickerson was treated by the rescue workers, but both he and Germaine Pritchett died shortly after they were shot.

The gunman fled the scene.

Later, James Donald Pritchett, 40, of Yorkshire Road in Martinsville surrendered at the Henry County Sheriff's Office, said Investigator P.G. Puckett.

Investigators had not determined a motive in the shootings.

Pritchett was being held without bond Sunday night in the Henry County Jail. He was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
