NEW FIRING RANGE NEAR BLACKSBURG

The Jefferson National Forest has opened a new shooting range in its Blacksburg Ranger District.

Developed for public use, the facility offers an 18-position rifle-pistol range and a single-position shotgun (trap) range.

The rifle-pistol range is designed for firing at stationary targets, said Donna Wilson, a forest spokeswoman. Targets may be located at 25, 50 and 100 yards and 100 meters. Frames are provided. Clay pigeons may be used on the trap range. Both ranges are accessible to people with disabilities.

The facility is reached by traveling west on U.S. 460 from Blacksburg, then left for one-quarter mile on Virginia 621.
