MARSHALL, Minn. - A month after it closed because of what eventually became the largest salmonella outbreak in state history, the Schwan's ice cream plant in Marshall has been given the green light to call back workers and reopen, state agriculture officials said Monday.
The approval to reopen the company's flagship plant came after Minnesota and federal investigators concluded that the bacterial contamination resulted from tanker trucks hauling raw, unpasteurized eggs before they carried a liquid ice cream premix to the plant.

Sears to relinquish ownership of tower
CHICAGO - Sears Roebuck and Co. said Monday it will give up ownership of Sears Tower, the world's tallest building, in a restructuring of the building's financing.
The building, which has 110 stories rising to 1,454 feet, houses Sears' national headquarters.
The agreement to transfer ownership to a pension fund partnership managed by Boston-based Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch will reduce Sears' debt by $850 million, Sears said.
Sears will record a $195 million gain, after taxes, in the fourth quarter as a result of the transaction.
