HEAD-ON CRASH KILLS MARTINSVILLE MAN

A 20-year-old man was killed Monday when his car collided head-on with a dump truck while trying to pass another car on a two-lane road near Martinsville.

State police said Jermaine Dillard of Martinsville was driving west on Virginia 57. Police said he struck the dump truck as he tried to pass on a section of road marked as a no-passing zone.

He was taken to Henry County Memorial Hospital, where he died less than two hours later.
