2 GUILTY IN VACATION SCAM

Two brothers face prison terms and fines after pleading guilty to bilking customers out of $800,000 in a vacation scam.

Michael C. Barson, 36, of Reston, and Christopher A. Barson, 30, of Arlington, entered the pleas Monday in U.S. District Court to charges stemming from a telemarketing scheme that defrauded 2,000 customers in 43 states from 1990-92.

Customers were required to pay by certified check, money order or credit card. Instead of the vacations, they received travel vouchers that either were worthless or contained numerous conditions that made them nearly impossible to redeem.
