VOTERS APPROVE DEVELOPMENT BONDS

In a nail-biter to the finish, Franklin County voters Tuesday gave a green light to the $3.7 million industrial-site-development and county-improvement bonds.

"It's progress that the county definitely needs," said Connie Harrison of Rocky Mount.

The plan will allow the county to spend $2.7 million purchasing and improving industrial sites in the hope of expanding the county's tax base by attracting new industry.

It also provides $800,000 for a new Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and $200,000 for two new parks.
