HUNTER SHOOTS, KILLS HIMSELF

A New Market man died after accidentally shooting himself while hunting in Rappahannock County, officials say.

Lt. Mike Minarik of the state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said Brian Orbaugh, 20, was found dead Wednesday morning by search dogs after an extensive search that began Tuesday.

A hunting partner notified authorities that Orbaugh was missing when he failed to meet him at a specified point.

Rappahannock County sheriff's officials said they have not determined how the gun went off.

Monday was the start of the big-game hunting season.
