ARRITT, Hafford Lee Sr., 70, of Forest, died Friday, November 11, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was a former resident of Covington and was co-founder of Arritt Funeral Home. He retired in 1991 after 41 years of service as a licensed funeral director. Mr. Arritt was born April 29, 1924 in Alleghany County the son of the late Wesley Lee and Eva Wolfe Arritt. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Mary Marshall Martin Arritt of Forest; one son, H. Lee Arritt Jr. of Troutville; five daughters, Karen Carter, Mary Lee Cabell, Patricia Moore, Eva Smith, all of Lynchburg, Kathy Humphries of Covington; one siste r, Mrs. Alma Chandler of Yorktown; 16 grandchildren. Mr. Arritt was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Carl Arritt in 1966 and Fred Calvin Arritt in 1986, and by his brother, Albert Arritt Sr. in 1973. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel in Covington with the Rev. Harold E. Moffitt Jr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. Michael L. Snider. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington. The family will receive their friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggest that donations in Mr. Arritt's name be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

BLAND, Haven K., 74, of Christiansburg, died suddenly Friday night, November 11, 1994 in the Radford Community Hospital. He was a retired employee of RAAP and was preceded in death by his wife, June Woolwine Bland. He is survived by two sons, Ron Bland, Christiansburg, Haven Bland Jr. of North Carolina; two sisters, Penny Allen and Polly Meredith, both of North Carolina; one brother, Junior C. Bland, Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Trey Bland and Katrina Bland; a very special friend, Margie McCraw, Radford. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday from the Main Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Peter duPlessis, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Main Street Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 557, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call anytime Sunday and also on Monday morning at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening. BOWMAN, Mamie Harper, (Mrs. Harry B.), 69, of Roanoke, died Saturday, November 12, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.

BUCKNER, Isabelle Lula, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, November 10, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Buckner Sr.; and one son, Larry J. Buckner. Survivors include four sons, Harold (Jermaine) Buckner Jr., Richard (Gertrude) Buckner, Michael Buckner, and Ernest Buckner, all of Roanoke; four daughters, Regina (James) Cooper and Janice Buckner, both of Roanoke, Carlene Buckner, Atlanta, Ga., and Patricia Buckner, Roanoke; two sisters, Maggie Poindexter and Hallie Smith, both of Roanoke; 25 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends; a very devoted friend, Carolyn Haynes, Roanoke. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Holiness Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Elder James E. Jones will officiate with interment in Willams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

CALL, Roy Edgar Sr., 69, of Hardy, died Saturday, November 12, 1994. He was retired from Blue Ridge Transfer and served with the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Frances McGuire Call; three sons, Roy E. Call Jr., Jerry Wayne Call, and David Michael Call, all of Hardy; four daughters, Barbara Jean Rumburg of Bassett, Judy C. Wilson of Folkston, Ga., Linda Mae Call of Hardy, and Patricia Lilly of Vinton; four brothers, Gene Call, George (Tommy) Call, Ralph Call and Donald Call, all of Etowah, Tenn.; one sister, Frankie Harris of Etowah, Tenn; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 1994 at the Lotz Vinton Chapel by the Rev. C. Berkley Stevens. Burial will follow in the Nineveh Church Cemetery in Hardy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Nancy Graves, and is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ann Shepperd, Christiansburg; three sisters, Dinah Dove, Chesapeake, Thelma Hypes, Christiansburg, Christine Shaver of Ohio; a brother, Tommy McMahan, Blacksburg; grandchildren, Tina Hypes, Teresa Davis, Dickey Graves, Dennis Graves, Ricky Graves, Donnie Graves, Darrell Graves, Leasa Sheppard, Nicole Sheppard; a very special grandson, Derick Graves; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Stella Light and Essie Fagan, both of Christiansburg. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Belview United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Larry Mann, with burial in the Blackwell Cemetery near the home. MELVIN, Eva Love, 86, of Roanoke, died Thursday, November 10, 1994. She was retired from American Viscose. Surviving is her husband, Roy Preston Melvin; one sister Jewel Millner of Danville; numerous nieces and nephews; a devoted neighbor, Darlene Swartzel. Services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 1994. The Rev. Frank Feather will officiate. SINK, William Eugene, 72, of Eagle Rock, died Friday evening, November 11, 1994. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Sink and his wife, Eva M. Sink. He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Sink of Springwood; one daughter, Sarita Sink Bradley of Eagle Rock; three sons, Barry W. Sink, Dannie R. Sink, and Dale A. Sink, all of Roanoke; one sister, Dorothy Sloan of Eagle Rock; five brothers, Robert (Budge) Sink of Springwood, Carter G. Sink of Lakeland, Fla., George F. Sink of Portland, Ore., Jesse (Peanut) Sink of Laurel, Md., Charles (Dollie) Sink, Maryland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the blessing of many good friends, relatives and neighbors. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired brakeman of the C & O Railway.
