CURRENT REPORTS LACK OBJECTIVITY

Whatever happened to objective reporting of the news? Your paper has a specific political agenda, as shown by what is reported and what is overlooked. I prefer to listen to both sides of an issue and develop my own opinion.

Start Christmas parade earlier

I recently read that the Jaycees will sponsor the Christiansburg Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, and once again will start at 6 p.m. As a concerned parent and citizen, I think they need to move the time up a couple of hours to make this event more enjoyable for all.

I suggest this to avoid the thermal shock everyone has to endure once it gets dark. Almost everyone at the parade for years has nearly frozen while waiting for and during the parade. In the crowd are people of all ages who come to watch and enjoy.

It's one thing to get the kids and yourself ready during daylight hours only to later wish you had brought along extra hats, gloves, boots and maybe even a small heater to survive the evening. Moving the time up would also help everyone coordinate getting where they need to be before and afterward.

I suggest anyone feeling as I do call or write the Jaycees and let them know. Some thought also could be given for an area for the handicapped.
