CONTRABAND CONFISCATED FROM TRUCK

State game wardens, conducting a road check Saturday in Giles County, confiscated more illegal contraband than they had bargained for.

Warden Frank Gough said that when he inspected Bobby Clyde Wimmer's truck, he found two illegally hunted deer, one turkey and 12 gallons of moonshine.

Wimmer, of Bland, faces several illegal wildlife possession charges, a possession of untaxed alcohol charge and several traffic violations.

Gough said the wardens conducted the traffic stop, held on Virginia 42, after several people called to report illegal hunting.

Hunters must immediately tag game after it has been killed, and they must take it to a game station for checking. Gough said Wimmer failed to do either.

Gough found the moonshine in the back of Wimmer's truck, hidden where hunting dogs are normally caged. The truck is being held, pending forfeiture because of the moonshine charge.
