ALTIZER, James Edgar, 57, of Riner, died Monday, NOvember 15, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Carol Wallace Altizer; sons and daughters-in-law, Sandy Glen and Nancy Altizer, Chester, Eric Scott and Jennifer Altizer, Riner, Ashley Kelly Altizer and James Clark Altizer, both of the home; two daughters, Tracey June Altizer and Erin Wallace Altizer, Riner; grandson, Travis West Altizer; two sisters, Edith Viars, Radford, Ruby Shelor, Christiansburg; three brothers, Willie Altizer, Radford, Buster Altizer, Pilot, Alvis Altizer, Christiansburg; his mother-in-law, Lena Wallace, Riner; a special niece and her husband, Denise and Reed Lee. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carl Ratcliffe , with burial in the Wallace Family Cemetery, Chestnut Ridge. BEARD, Lura Simmons, 88, of Rt. 1, Vinton, passed away Monday, November 14, 1994. Lura was a former employee of American Viscose Corp. and was a member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. She was the widow of Charlie M. Beard and is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Julia S. McGuire, Lucy Simmons, Esther S. Drewry, all of Roanoke, Mary Jane and Wilson Booth, Vinton; a brother, David Simmons, Vinton; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, Wednesday, November 16, 1994, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Robert M. Hamner officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. BLAIR, Lloyd N., 73, of Abingdon, died Monday, November 14, 1994 at his home. He was a native of Wythe County, Va., and had lived in Abing don since 1940. He had been associated with the livestock market business since 1940 in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He was president of Tri-State Livestock Market and was a real estate broker for Blair Brothers Real Estate in Wytheville. He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army/Air Corp., serving in World War II. He is survived by one son, Frank Blair, Abingdon; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie (Sandra) Jonas, Abingdon; two brothers, Foster Blair, Max Meadows, Ewing (Pud) Blair, Max Meadows; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Blair, Charleston, W. Va., Mrs. Elizabeth Dutton, Max Meadows, Mrs. Julia Holtman, Barstow, Calif., Miss Dottie Blair, Wytheville, Miss Lois Blair, Wytheville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ginger Jonas Largen, Jonathan Jonas, Laura Blair, Sarah Blair. Funeral services for Mr. Loyd N. Blair will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Eggers, the Rev. BROWN, Eleanor Beatrice, 69, of Salem, died Sunday, November 13, 1994 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was lifelong Salem resident and had retired from Lewis-Gale Hospital where she had worked in the Purchasing Department. Survivors include, a sister, Mary Jo Hodges; and a long time friend, Gladys D. Wiggins, both of Salem, and numerous nieces and nephews. BRYANT, Ruth I. Anderson, 87, of Kingsville, Ohio, and formerly of Vinton, died Monday, November 14, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel.

BUCHANAN, John Charles, 75, of Roanoke, died Sunday afternoon, November 13, 1994, at the VA Veterans Care Center. He was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post #3, and ret ired from Procter and Gamble after 34 years service. Surviving are his wife, Jean J. Buchanan; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda B. and Bob Davis, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Michael, Mark, and Michelle Davis; a brother, Henry W. Buchanan, Richmond; and a sister, Margaret B. Goetz, Louisville, Ky. A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church with the Rev. Kenneth Stofft officiating. Entombment will be private. BURCH, Howard E., 83, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., died Friday, November 11, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Helen Burch of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters, Mary Ellen Burch, Albuquerque, N.M., Julie Ann McGregor and husband, Duncan Clark, Marion; grandchildren, Kenneth Howard Price and wife, Teresa, Pueblo, Colo., Richard Thomas Prince and wife, Bonny, Albuquerque, N.M., Anne Clark McGregor, Richmond, and Michael David McGregor, Blacksburg. Mr. Burch was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Newark, Ohio. He was a former general manager of St. Regis Paper Company in Newark , Ohio. Mr. Burch was a member of Moundbuilders Country Club, and a life member of B.P.O.E. International. He was active in Avalon Lodge #657 A.F.M. in Newark, Ohio and Avalon Lodge #357 in Bellvine, Pa. Mr. Burch was a St. Lukes Commandry #34 Knights Templer in Newark, Ohio and a Warren Chapter #6 Royal Arch Mason at the Newark Lodge. He was also a member of the Aladdin Temple in Columbus, Ohio. CREGGER, Nita Corvin, 88, of Rt. 4, Wytheville, died Sunday, November 13, 1994 at her residence. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Lawrence Jackson and Dolly Catron Corvin. She was a life member of Petunia Christian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Bailey Cregger and a daughter, Erma Cregger. She is survived by one sister, Lottie C. Marsh, Wytheville; several nieces and nephews; and her adopted family, the Paul Simmerman family, Wytheville. CUNNINGHAM, Alfred Curtis, 39, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, November 12, 1994. DeHART, Nannie Belle Corvin, 81, of Radford, passed away Sunday, November 13, 1994, in Radford Community Hospital. She was a retired employee of Kenrose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Richard Dehart. EAST, Ethel Thornton, 85, of Route 1 (Robinson Tract Road), Pulaski, died Saturday, November 12, 1994 in Gainsville, Fla. from injuries received from an automobile accident. She was born in Monroe County, W. Va. on May 25, 1909, and was the daughter of the late Cyrus Alexander Thornton and Lucinda Graham Thornton. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy C. East. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert C. and Patricia Hull East, Pulaski, Curtis G. and Jane Hurst East, Dublin; daughters and sons-in-law, Maudie and William C. HALL, Theresa Tucker, 68, of Richmond, died Monday, November 14, 1994, in a Richmond hospital. Mrs. Hall was a native of Roanoke, and she attended Farmville State Teacher's College (now Longwood). Mrs. Hall was the retired Secretary/Treasurer of Solid Waste Equipment Co. of Va., Inc. She is survived by her husband, Cary V. Hall Jr.; a son, Cary V. Hall III, a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa H. (Carthe) and Deane Maury, all of Richmond; her mother, Theresa G. Tucker; a sister, Helen T. Whitescaver; a brother, Emmett E. IRVIN, John Christopher Jr., 83, of Meadows Of Dan, died Sunday, November 13, 1994, in a Salem Hospital. He was born June 25, 1911, in Holidaysburg, Pa. He was a former resident of Salem and a Norfolk and Western Railroad retiree since 1971. Mr. Irvin attended Gettysburg Academy and Roanoke College from 1932-35. He was preceded in death in 1970, by his wife, Midred Cook Irvin, Salem. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Spangler Irvin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Michael and Eleanor Mason Irvin, Virginia Beach, Va. and John Christopher and Carol Combs Irvin, Richmond, Texas; three brothers, George Irvin, Garden City, N. SAUNDERS, Jesse Carleton Sr., 64, of Moneta, died Monday, November 14, 1994. He was dead on arrival at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Rocky Mount, Va. Born September 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Albert and Etta Mae Brown Saunders. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163 A.F. & A.M., Roanoke, Va. He was retired from Roanoke City Fire Department with 30 years service. WATLINGTON, Willie Lee, (``Will""), 72, of Roanoke, died Sunday, November 13, 1994, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, New Guinea, Luzon. He was a retired salesman with Magic City Motors, an Instructor in the Dale Carnegie Course for 20 years and a professional magician. As a magician, he performed under the name of Dr. Do-All for numerous organizations in several states for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Harp Watlington, Roanoke; four daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and John Bradshaw, Roanoke, Kathie and Steve Floyd, Elon College, N.C., Jo and Dave Hargrove, Snow Camp, N.C., Janet Keener, Roanoke; nine grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Jack Noffsinger, Winston-Salem, N.C.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Harp, Roanoke. He was born October 15, 1921 in Bedford County, a son of the late Houise Whorley and Martha Hensley Whorley. He was a retired employee of Rubatex, was an Army veteran and a member of the Irving Apostolic Church. He is survived by his wife, Commie Virginia Heck Whorley; three daughters, Ella Davis, Big Island, Mary Maxey, Blue Ridge, Ruth Fellers, Troutville; a son and daughter-in-law, Allie (Bo) and Nellie Whorley, Thaxton; two sisters, Lucille Weeks of North Carolina, Esther Jenkins, Big Island; four brothers, Arthur Whorley, Bedford, Counis Whorley, Jessie Whorley, Lawrence Whorley, all of Big Island; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. WIMMER, Ina Warner, 85, of Narrows, died Monday morning, November 14, 1994, in a Roanoke hospital. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on April 24, 1909 and was the daughter of the late John Preston and Hattie Jane Dunford Warner. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ and the Wolf Creek Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ceward Wimmer, two daughters, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three sons, John Wimmer, Hampton, Calvin Wimmer, Narrows, Danny Wimmer, Clarksville, Tenn.; four daughters, Loretta W. Brown, Narrows, Sara W. Callahan, Brenda W. Hilton, both of Roanoke, Carol W. White, Endwell, N.Y.; a brother, Gilbert Warner, Narrows; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
