The Hokies went 24-6 in 1993-94, won the Metro Conference tournament championship and made their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. Maryland is ranked 16th nationally in the Philadelphia Inquirer's preseason poll.
The Hokies will be without starting point guard Lisa Leftwich, who has a stress fracture in her left thigh and may miss up to six weeks. Former Pulaski County standout Terri Garland will start at point, and William Byrd product Sherry Banks will start at shooting guard.
