The Roanoke Jaycees is sponsoring its eighth annual Cherub Tree at Tanglewood Mall. The tree is located in the food court on the second floor.
Sponsors are asked to select a cherub with a wish list and return the gifts to the tree by Dec. 12.
Children are selected on the advice of Roanoke Valley Social Services. For more information, call 345-1316.
Fincastle parade set for Dec. 3
The Fincastle Christmas parade will be held Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. The rain date is Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
The parade will form at 1 p.m. at Breckinridge Elementary School. Cash prizes will be given to the best float and all bands participating will receive an honorarium.
Floats will be judged on originality, theme, beauty and effort taken to make the float.

After the parade, there will be a music presentation by the Breckinridge Elementary Choral Group. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance.
United Way names minority graduates
The United Way of Roanoke Valley has announced the names of the graduates from its 1994 Minority Leadership Enhancement Program.
The program is designed to increase the representation of blacks and other minorities on the boards and committees of United Way and community agencies. Participants develop the skills needed to be effective community leaders and connects them with volunteer leadership opportunities.
The graduates are: Freelya Phillips, Doris Jones, Rosalie Sanchez-Motley, Chenise Anderson, Eva Miller, Linda Webb, Janet Clement, Donna Clayton, Laveeta Howe, Jeanette Warrington, Lew Thompson, Wanda Spraggins, Gary Lewis, Juan Motley, James Starke, Henry Hale, Clyde Clark, Chuck Smith, Anthony Reed and Sherman Holland.
