Craig County spent $4,600 for mental health service, said Shirley Woodall, Craig's representative on the community services board.
In her annual report to the Board of Supervisors, Woodall said Craig's tax dollars were matched with state and federal funds to finance an array of services provided by the community services group, formerly known as Mental Health Services of the Roanoke Valley. The group provides services to the mentally retarded, mentally ill and substance abusers.
Woodall's report for the previous fiscal year showed that mentally ill clients received the greatest share of services; 55 people received 634 hours of services valued at $30,352.
The report also showed that the next largest group were substance abusers; 14 people received 111 hours of services worth $4,272.
Prevention services were provided for 950 people in the substance abuse category and to 93 in the mental health category
Overall, the report showed that more than 1,100 people received services valued at $54,208.
