Thompson, son of James V. and the late Barbara Thompson of Roanoke, has worked at the center since 1990.
RICHIE ALBA, administrator of Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton, was elected treasurer of the Virginia Health Care Association during the group's annual meeting in September.
LISA LINKENHOKER has been named an administrative assistant in Salem Bank and Trust's bookkeeping department. The Lord Botetourt High School graduate formerly worked with with First and Merchants National Bank and later moved to Salem Bank and Trust's data processing area.
DELORIS P. HAYDEN recently was honored for 30-plus years of child care work and community service. She is a day-care provider and has worked with the Roanoke Department of Social Services, the Salvation Army's abused women's center, the Northwest Jaycees, Star City Chapter ABWA and Big Brother/Big Sister of the Roanoke Valley.
C. THOMAS ROBINSON, former executive vice president of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, has earned the Certified Chamber Executive designation, the highest professional designation awarded to a chamber of commerce executive.
SUSAN G. MYERS, a 1984 Hollins graduate, has been named president and chief executive officer of Mid-State Development Corp., in Bakersfield, Calif. Myers, who is married to former Roanoker David Mychesky, previously was chief loan officer at Neuse River Development Authority Inc. in eastern North Carolina.
JEANETTE C. WEBBER has been named office manager at Mount Regis Center in Salem. She will be responsible for human resource development and personnel policies and procedures and will also oversee support activities at the chemical dependency treatment center.
Webb has formerly held administrative assistant and personnel positions with Hall, Vogler & Flemming and Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley.
She is a member of the Roanoke Valley Society for Human Resource Management.
LETITIA ROSE BATEY, daughter of Calvin C. Rose of Roanoke and the late Eleanor Beane Rose, has been promoted to vice president and community investment coordinator at NationsBank in Norfolk. Since joining the bank in 1978, Batey has been an assistant branch manager, operations officer, technical analyst in information management services, corporate compliance officer and assistant vice president.
She is a 1972 graduate of Jefferson High School.
THE ROANOKE REGIONAL OFFICE SALES STAFF of the Virginia Lottery has been selected Sales Team of the Year. Members of the sales team are Jeff Ferguson, Kellye Foster, Arthur Grubb, Cliff Hughes, Bobby Noell and Robery Via. Grubb was named Salesperson of the Year.
MARTHA HIGGS and CHARLENE McCADDEN, both registered nurses and infection control practitioners at the Salem Veterans Affairs Center in Salem, have received awards for developing innovative in-service educational programs and successful quality assurance studies. The awards were presented by the Virginia Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology at its 20th educational conference.
JAMES L. WOLTZ of Woltz and Associates Inc., Real Estate Brokers and Auctioneers of Roanoke, has been appointed the 1995 chairman of the National Association of Realtors Auction Subcommittee on Professional Development.
THE VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER in Salem has received a check for $3,400 from the Roanoke Bowling Association on behalf of the Bowlers Victory League Fund to help support recreational therapy programs for hospitalized veterans.
DOWNTOWN ROANOKE INC. recently presented the 1994 Golden Trowel awards, its highest honor, to several businesses that completed construction projects in the downtown area in the last year.
The winners were: N&W Properties for work at 25 W. Church Ave.; Oakey's Funeral Services-Roanoke Chapel for work at 328 W. Church Ave.; and Relish Realty for renovations at 118 E. Campbell Ave.
RHONDA ANDREWS has been installed as president of Collegiate Secretaries International, Virginia Western Community College Chapter. Other officers are: Angela Burnette, vice president; Laura Overbay, recording secretary; Roxann Shaver, corresponding secretary; and Dedra Hogue, treasurer.
RITA CORBITT has been elected president of the National Association of Women in Construction. Other recently elected officers are: Susan Kaiser, vice president; Pat Whitlock, recording secretary; Vicki Cromer, treasurer; and Iris Brickey, corresponding secretary. Pat Dougherty and Sherrie Tunstell were named to the board of directors.
LISA SNOW, employed by Roanoke Construction Specialities, has received the WIC of the Year Award from the National Association of Women in Construction for her contributions to the Roanoke Valley Chapter No.226.
DR. PAUL M. SHOENFELD, a podiatrist with Roanoke Podiatry and Foot Surgery P.C., recently was re-elected president of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine.
The board was created and incorporated in 1992. More than 2,500 podiatrists are board certified or board qualified.
Shoenfeld has worked as a podiatrist in Roanoke for more than 16 years.
