POWER-LINE MEETING SET FOR SATURDAY

The Informed Citizens' Action Network will sponsor a meeting Saturday for Montgomery County residents living within the proposed corridors for a new Appalachian Power Co. high-voltage power line. The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. in the community room of the Blacksburg Branch Library at 400 Draper Road.

At the meeting, people will address issues involving land and wildlife, geological features, watershed, residential and historical areas and visual impact, among others. The citizens' network has organized local opposition to both the high-voltage power line and a proposed interstate that could run through this area.

The U.S. Forest Service has placed maps in the library for study. The maps are scheduled to be removed Nov. 21.

Residents unable to attend the meeting may mail information about their land, name, exact location, address and telephone number to: Informed Citizens' Action Network, P.O. Box 11151, Blacksburg, Va. 24062-1151.

For more information, call Lynda Majors, 552-8914.
