The Mental Health Association of the Roanoke Valley will host its 12th annual Festival of Trees in Fitzpatrick Hall of the Jefferson Center from Dec. 2-24.
The display of more than 20 decorated trees will be open to the public Monday-Thursday,10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-4 p.m. Admission is $1.50 for adults, $1 for children six to 12.
Proceeds from the festival support the Mental Health Association's community education and advocacy efforts.

Auditions at W&L
Open auditions for ``She Stoops To Conquer,'' Oliver Goldsmith's comedy of love and highjinks in 18th-century England, will be held Dec. 4, 1-3 p.m. and Dec. 5, 7-10 p.m., in Washington and Lee University's Johnson Theatre, Lexington.
Major roles are available for four women and six men, plus additional comic supporting roles. Performance dates are Feb. 3-7.
Scripts can be signed out from the theater department secretary, third floor, Lenfest Center. The department will be closed during the week of Nov. 21. Call 463-8007.
Kandinsky Trio concert
As winner of the 1994 NEA Meet-the-Composer/Reader's Digest Commissioning Award, the Kandinsky Trio will present the Southeastern United States' premiere of a new work by Maurice Gardner at its series concert Dec. 2, 8 p.m., in Roanoke College's Olin Theater.
The work was written for the trio as part of a consortium of three chamber ensembles. The concert features violist Christine Vlajk, who will join the trio in the premiere performance of Gardner's new piano quartet, ``Intervista.''
Also on the program are Haydn's Trio in E Major, Hob. XV: 28, and the C Minor trio of Felix Mendelssohn.
The Kandinsky Trio is a 1994-95 recipient of a Chamber Music America Residency Matching Grant and is artist-in-residence at Roanoke College.

P. Buckley Moss exhibit
A one-day exhibit of works by artist P. Buckley Moss will feature the release of the ``Radford University'' limited-edition print, depicting three of the oldest buildings on the campus.
The Nov. 23 show, to be held in Heth Hall, Radford University, is open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m. Moss will be available to sign her work.
Moss will donate a portion of the print's sales to the university's Alumni Scholarship Fund, benefitting those studying learning disabilities. The artist, dyslexic herself, has raised more than a million dollars in the past two years for charities aiding children.

Information sought
The Harrison Museum of African American Culture and Dr. Walter Claytor are compiling data on the African-American educational experience and history in the Roanoke Valley. The historical presentation, ``the Educational Roll of Honor,'' will be both pictorial and narrative.
Send in the names of each African-American born in Roanoke, Salem and Roanoke County who completed his or her post-secondary education (B.S., B.A., master's or doctorate level). The list should include the school and year the degrees were conferred. Photographs and copies of degrees may also be included.

Fun Run is Dec. 31
First Night Roanoke will sponsor a 5K and One Mile Fun Run, for runners of all ages and abilities, Dec. 31 in downtown Roanoke.
The Fun Run entry fee is a First Night Roanoke button, $5 for adults, $3 age 12 and under. The 5K Race fee is $10 for adults and $7 age 12 and under, and includes a First Night Roanoke button and long-sleeved T-shirt. Fees increase by $2 for both races after Dec. 30.
The course will be lighted by a combination of streetlights and luminaries. Entrants will be given a glow necklace to wear during the run.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in the One Mile Run and to the top two males and two females and to random finishers in the 5K Race. An awards ceremony will be held at 11 p.m.
