``We can hardly wait,'' Retton, 26, said in a statement Wednesday. ``Coming from a family of five children, I've always planned to have lots of kids of my own, and now we're on our way.''
Retton, who won a gymnastics gold medal in the 1984 Olympics, married Shannon Kelley, a former quarterback at the University of Texas, in 1990.
Nadia Comaneci must have flipped when fellow Olympic gymnastic champion Bart Conner gave her an engagement ring for her birthday.
Comaneci, who won three gold medals in the 1976 Olympics, turned 33 on Saturday. Conner won a gold in 1984. A wedding date has not been set.
The couple plan to compete in the World Team Gymnastic Championships next week in Germany. Then they'll head to Romania for Comaneci's first appearance in her native country since she defected in 1989.
Singer Kenny Rogers is helping to expand a cerebral palsy treatment center named in his honor.
Rogers cut the ribbon for a 3,000-square foot expansion Wednesday and announced he was donating $10,000 to the center, which serves about 120 children.
Rogers learned about the effort to build the center while appearing at a rodeo in 1978. A horse he donated for a fund-raising auction brought $90,000.
