The exhibit, titled ``A Group of One,'' includes several commissioned portraits in pastel or oil by the artist. Also featured will be watercolors and other oils and pastels, many depicting scenes from recent travels in Scotland and Ireland.
In a more experimental mode, several monotypes will be displayed. These are paintings done on a Plexiglas plate and transferred to paper by printing press. Such work must be completed quickly, or the paint becomes too dry to transfer well. Details can be added afterward, if necessary.
``As is evident in the show, I have never been able to confine myself to one medium or subject,'' Frederick said.
``I paint mainly what interests me at the moment, and my eye is usually caught by the play of light over color and form. While I do try to express a mood or a personal point of view, I leave social commentary and profundities to others,'' she said.
Frederick said she enjoys the ``sensuous aspects'' of painting - ``the smell of the paint, the drag or glide of the brush, the often unexpected visual vibration of color against color. I paint because of the meditative state of mind painting induces - an entry to the internal world where time and troubles do not intrude.
``While in this state, new aspects of the subject in hand become apparent. Therefore, I paint to learn.''
