ROCKY MOUNT MAN INJURED IN WRECK

A Rocky Mount man was taken to to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by helicopter Friday after a collision on U.S. 220 in Franklin County.

Charles Dunbar, 50, was driving his pickup truck near Rocky Mount about 1 p.m. when Ella Jamison, 88, made a left turn in front of him to go into the parking lot of Jerry's Steakhouse, said Bennie Russell, Franklin County deputy director of public safety.

The helicopter was called because Dunbar lost consciousness, indicating a possible head injury, Russell said. Dunbar suffered cuts and a bruised chest and was in satisfactory condition Friday evening.

Russell said Jamison refused transportion to the hospital. She was charged with failure to yield.
