Watkins scored both his touchdowns in the first quarter on runs of 2 and 4 yards to give Bassett (7-4) a 14-0 lead. Corrie Manns completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hairston with 37 seconds remaining in the first half.
Wimbush scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter and ran 37 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Benji Hardy rushed for 77 yards for Dan River.
Bassett plays at William Campbell next week for the regional championship.

LEBANON - Nathan McLaughlin ran 64 yards on a fake reverse for a touchdown with 26 seconds left to give Lebanon a victory over George Wythe in a Group A Division 2 Region C semifinal game.
The Pioneers (11-0) advance to the regional final, where they will face Giles at home next week.
George Wythe (7-4) had scored with 30 seconds left to tie the score at 21 after Matt Spraker took it in from 2 yards.
McLaughlin finished with 300 yards in 30 carries
Lebanon had taken a 14-0 halftime lead behind the arm of quarterback Ryan Cowden, who threw scoring strikes of 4 yards to Gordon Holmes and 6 yards to Brian Sword. Cowden completed six of 14 passes for 58 yards.
George Wythe cut the lead to 14-8 when Sky Crockett, who rushed for 94 yards on 10 carries, rambled 53 yards for the score.
McLaughlin, who rushed for 300 yards on 30 carries, scored on a 13-yard run in the third quarter to give the Pioneers a 21-8 lead before George Wythe made its fourth-quarter comeback. Lebanon finished with 376 rushing yards and 434 yards of total offense..

BASTIAN - David Alan Lambert threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as the Bears beat Northwood in a Group A Division 1 Region C semifinal game for their first playoff win in the team's three-year history.
Todd Morehead gained 73 of the 208 rushing yards for Bland County (8-3). John Stinson had a 74-yard kickoff return for a score.
Northwood (7-4) scored on a 30-yard pass from Greg Prater to Shane Thompson and a 1-yard run by David Ferguson.
Lambert ran 2 yards for a score and hit Todd Morehead with a 3-yard touchdown pass to give Bland County (8-3) a 13-0 lead after one quarter.
After Shane Thompson caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Greg Prater to put Northwood (7-4) on the board, John Stinson returned the ensuing kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown. Monty Matthews' kick gave the Bears a 21-6 halftime lead.
In the second half, Lambert, who passed for 66 yards, completed touchdown tosses of 29 and 3 yards and ran for a 19-yard touchdown.
Morehead gained 73 of the Bears' 208 rushing yards. David Ferguson had a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Northwood.
