REPORTED EARNINGS

Roanoke Electric Steel Corp., mini-mill producer of finished steel products, reported net earnings of $11.9 million, or $2.23 per share, on sales of $215.8 million for its fiscal year ended Oct. 31, compared with year-earlier $4.8 million, or 90 cents per share, on sales of $167.3 million. For the fourth quarter, net earnings were $4.5 million, or 85 cents per share, on sales of $61.2 million, compared with $2.1 million, or 40 cents, on sales of $49.4 million.

Western Sizzlin

Western Sizzlin Corp., Nashville, Tenn., restaurant chain with operations in Western Virginia directed by Vic Foti of Roanoke, reported net income of $371,057 on revenues of $2.3 million for its third quarter ended Oct. 2 and net income of $714,766 on revenues of $6.8 million for the nine months. The company, acquired by a group of franchisees late last year, did not report statistics for a year ago.
