Curtis David Taylor, 35, of Prince Avenue, was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury Monday.
The two-count indictment charges that Taylor is responsible for the death of Demarco Franklin Gillespie, 37, of Pulaski County. Gillespie sustained serious head injuries after he and Taylor were ejected from the car. Gillespie died about one week after the wreck, according to Pulaski police Commander Ernie Taylor.
The first count of the indictment charges Taylor with involuntary manslaughter by unintentionally causing Gillespie's death as a result of driving under the influence. The second count charges Taylor with voluntary manslaughter.
Prosecutors will proceed on one of the two charges.
The accident happened on Dora Highway as Taylor was driving east, apparently at a high speed. Police said the car came upon a barricade at the closed end of Dora Highway and Taylor lost control of the car, which went off the left side of the road and flipped several times.
