Kellwood Co., St. Louis parent of Halmode Apparel Co. of Roanoke, reported net earnings of $11.1 million, or 52 cents per share, on sales of $376 million for its second quarter ended Oct 31, compared with year-earlier $10.7 million, or 50 cents per share, on sales of $342.1 million. For the six months, net earnings were $21.8 million, or $1.02 per share, on sales of $676.9 million, compared with year-earlier $20.6 million, or 97 cents per share, on sales of $640.5 million.
Shorewood Packaging
Shorewood Packaging Corp., New York maker of paperboard packaging with operations in Roanoke, reported net earnings of $6.8 million, or 36 cents per share, on revenues of $97.1 million for its second quarter ended Oct 29, compared with year-earlier $3.1 million, or 18 cents per share, on revenues of $46.1 million. For the six months, net earnings were $12.2 million, or 66 cents per share, on revenues of $181.8 million, compared with year-earlier $5.2 million, or 29 cents per share, on revenues of $6.4 million.
Sterile Concepts
Sterile Concepts Holdings Inc., Richmond provider of surgical procedure trays to hospitals and surgery centers that last month was spun off from Carilion Health System of Roanoke, reported net income of $9.8 million, or $1.77 per share, on sales of $132.1 million for its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, compared with year-earlier $7.9 million, or $1.45 per share, on sales of $121.1 million.
Walt Disney Co.
The Walt Disney Co. reported earnings of $1.11 billion, or $2.04 a share, on revenue of $10.1 billion for its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, compared with year-earlier $299.8 million, or 55 cents per share, on revenue of $8.5 billion. For the fourth quarter, earnings were $225.9 million, or 42 cents per share, on revenue of $2.7 billion, compared with year-earlier loss of $77.7 million, equal to 15 cents per share, on revenue of $2.2 billion. The company said it took a write-off of development costs for its now-canceled theme park proposed for Northern Virginia.
