CAV TACKLE WINS ACC AWARD

Virginia offensive tackle Chris Harrison, who overcame a fractured leg to start every football game for Virginia this season, will receive the ACC'S Brian Piccolo Award.

The award is named after a former Wake Forest fullback and athlete of the year who was playing for the Chicago Bears when he was stricken with cancer and died.

Harrison, from Washington, D.C., suffered a compound fracture of his right ankle in August 1993. He spent 16 weeks in a cast and missed spring practice.

In other developments, Clemson tight end Ed Glenn received the Jim Tatum Award in recognition of athletic achievement.
