PUBLIC MEETING NEXT WEEK ON VA. TRANSPORTATION PLAN

A public meeting on developing a statewide multimodal transportation plan for the next 20 years will be held Dec. 1, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Virginia Highlands Airport off U.S. 11 west of Abingdon.

The plan includes highways, railroads, airports, public transportation and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

People attending will be able to review materials and information at their convenience during the two hours. Representatives of the Virginia departments of Transportation, Aviation and Rail and Public Transportation along with the Virginia Port Authority will be on hand to answer questions.

Speakers can record comments or submit written statements during the meeting. Written comments also can be sent within 10 days after the meeting to: Richard C. Lockwood, VDOT Transportation Planning Division, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond 23219.
