BRITTS, Cynthia Mays, 95, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 1994, at Camelot Nursing Home. Mrs. Britts was a native of Nelson County, Va. and the oldest living graduate of Lewis Gale Hospital School of Nursing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vivian Carlyle Britts. Mrs. Britts is survived by her son, William Carlyle Britts, Salem and his wife, Jacquelyn; a daughter, Jacqueline Britts Brooks, Roanoke; a grandson, William Carlyle Britts II and his wife, Lucia, Seattle, Wash.; two granddaughters, Kimberly Britts Hansen and her husband, Douglas, Playa del Ray, Calif., and Terry Brooks Chilton and her husband, Mark, Montgomery, Ala. Also surviving is a sister, Ivy Mays Ball, Lanham, Md. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 1994, at 1:30 p.m. in Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Reverend Kelly Dampeer officiating. CARTER, Leroy, 77, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 28, 1994. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Salem Springs Works. He was a faithful member of the Northwest Congregation of the Jehovahs Witness. Survivors include his wife, Channie R. Carter; and daughter, Cynthia Lee Carter, both of Roanoke; one niece, Alice D. CHRISMAN, G. Allen, 90, of Christiansburg, died Monday, November 28, 1994 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was co-owner of the old City Market in Christiansburg, along with his brother, Ed, for a number of years and was employed by the Bank of Christiansburg from 1945 until his retirement in 1971. During WWII, he worked at the Radford Arse nal. He was a member of the National Guard, a charter member of the Christiansburg Hunt Club and served for a number of years on the Christiansburg Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Chrisman was a member and past Master of McDaniel Lodge #86, AF & AM and was a past High Priest of Taylor Royal Arch Chapter #70. He was also an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he also held numerous positions. He is survived by his wife, Beth Z. Chrisman; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith C. and Robert Job III, of Armonk, N.Y.; one son, Bill Chrisman of Chincoteague, Va.; three grandchildren, Robert Job IV, Beverly, Mass., Daryl Chrisman, Pomoke, Md., and Sandy Chrisman of Chincoteague; a nephew, Curtis Chrisman; and a niece, Betty Maxey, both of Christiansburg. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday from the St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Kanney. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will follow in Sunset Cemetery. EVANS, George W. Jr. (``Skip""), 55, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, November 28, 1994, at his residence in White Plains, N.Y., of an apparent heart attack. The son of Mr. George W. Evans Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Thompson Evans, he was born June 12, 1939 in Lexington, Va. After graduating from Lylburn Downing High School in 1958, he attended Bluefield State College, Bluefield, W.Va., and later served in the U.S. Army in Germany and in Vietnam. He was employed as a Purchasing Agent by Consolidated Edison of New York. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Patricia Ann Tolbert Evans; his son and daughter-in-law, George W. Evans, III and Valerie Evans; his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Evans Bennett and Shawn Bennett; two grandchildren, matthew Evans and Treyvon Bennett, all of White Plains, N.Y.; his father, George W. Evans Sr., Lexington; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian Evans Lewis and Thaddeus Lewis, Elmsford, N.Y., Wyllona Evans Harris and James Harris, Alexandria; Marylin Evans Alexander and Rick Alexander, Lexington; two aunts; and numerous other relatives. LYNCH, Richard Travis, 45, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November 29, 1994. Our beloved husband and father was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his father, James Warren Lynch. He left behind his loving wife, daughter, and son-in-law, Gwendolyn Ann, Kimberly Dawn and Robert Wayne Furrow Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Mavis Lynch McLain, and stepfather, Henry McLain, Goodview; brothers, Douglas Lynch, Hardy, Davis Lynch, Roanoke, Danny Lynch, Goodview; his sisters, Darlene Gross, Covington, Diane Faw, Vinton, Wand a Etheridge, Roanoke; special family of Bernard and Hazel Trent; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Richard was employed at Pete Moore Appliances for 28 years. He was part owner of Head Hunters Beauty Shop Ltd. of Roanoke since 1980. He was a member of the Clearbrook Baptist Church. He had many friends and special customers. His life touched so many people and he will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel with David Wickline, Orlander (Red) English, and Chester Lykins officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. MOREFIELD, Elsie Akers, 83, of Pulaski, died Monday, November 28, 1994, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born on September 10, 1911, in Draper and was the daughter of the late William Hoag Akers and Lillie Mae Coe Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Irvin N. (Doc) Morefield; two sons, Darrell N. Morefield and Jerry W. (Jay) Morefield; three daughters, Margaret M. Abell, Mildred M. Williams and Wanda M. Hancock. Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty M. Gaston, Dayton, Ohio, Kenneth and Bobbie Duncan, Dublin, Patsy M. Sowers, Floyd and the devoted husband of Wilma Moran Sowers. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Allen Sowers, Richmond, and Randy H. and Suzie Sowers, Salem; a granddaughter, Heather Sowers, Richmond; one brother, Ralph Sowers, Gate City; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a Veteran of World War II and a retired civil engineer, from the Virginia Deparment of Highways. He was an active member of First Christian Church in Salem. TURNER, Kenneth Jackson, 70, of Christiansburg, died Monday, November 28, 1994 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, and was retired from the fire department at RAAP. He served as an active member in the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-five years, from 1953 until 1978, and had been an honorary member of the department since 1978. He was also a member of McDaniel Lodge #86, AF & AM, and is survived by his wife, Ann Jones Turner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles J. and Connie Turner, Neal and Carolyn Turner, all of Christiansburg; one sister, Mildred Turner, San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Nora, Terri and Brandon; and a special nephew, Wayne Turner, San Antonio, Texas.
