Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., manufacturer of heavy equipment and parent of Carter Machinery Co. in Salem, said Tuesday the U.S. District Court in Jacksonville, Fla., has issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting a Florida equipment broker from representing earth-moving equipment assembled in Turkey as Caterpillar equipment.
Caterpillar said Nationwide Equipment Co. and Edward A. Kostenski, its president, both of Jacksonville, had tried to resell imported machines as Caterpillar machines.
The machines incorporate some Caterpillar components, including a Caterpillar power train, but are not made by Caterpillar and do not carry its warranty, the company said.
