TRIGON EXTENDS CLAIMS DEADLINE

Customers of Virginia's largest health insurer who were overcharged for services have an extra month to file for refunds.

Trigon Blue Cross-Blue Shield said it was extending the filing deadline to Jan. 7.

Under a settlement announced by state regulators in September, Trigon said it would pay a $5 million penalty and send refunds to policyholders for overcharges that were paid from 1984 to 1993.
