BROUGHMAN, Rinord Frank, 81, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November 29, 1994. He was preceded in death by one son, Clarence Ray Broughman, two brothers, Lawrence and Cecil Broughman, one sister, Midge Guest. He is survived by three sons, Rinord F. Broughman Jr. of Vinton, Ralph M. Brougham Sr. of Chesapeake, Richard L. Broughman Sr. of Madison, Ga.; two daughters, Barbara J. Kemper and Mary L. Kemper, both of Roanoke; six brothers, John Broughman of Rockville, Va., Eugene Broughman of Lexington, Bob Broughman of New Kent County, Va., Glenn Broughman, Raymond Broughman, both of Richmond, Walter Broughman of LowMoor; two sisters, Catherine Josephine Patsel of Selma, Edna Poole of Clifton Forge; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Broughman of Buchanan; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-granchildren. Funeral services wil be held Friday, December 2, 1994, 3 p.m. at the Rader Troutville Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. BUTTERWORTH, Geraldine Elizabeth, 63, of Salem, died Wednesday, November 30, 1994, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Lacy Butterworth, her son, Stephen Butterworth, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Clark, Sr., brother, Walter H. Clark, Jr., and sister, Mary Frances Clark. She is survived by a daughter, Tami Lea Shadeck, Salem; a sister, Merle C. (Kitty) Chisom, Roanoke; grandchildren, Crystal Burch, David Burch, II, Joseph Shadeck; sister-in-law, Ethel W. (Sue) Clark, Roanoke; two nieces, Nancy C. Blankenship, Roanoke, Charlotte C. Wells, Louisa; one nephew, Wayne H. Clark, Roanoke. CHAMBERS, Willie Mae, 90, of Beckley, W. Va.., died Tuesday, November 29, 1994, after a long illness at the home of her daughter, June LaPrade in Roanoke. She was born in Bontown, Va. the daughter of the late James and Matilda Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Opie, sons, Jay and Jerry, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by sons, Jim, Joe and J.M. all of Beckley, W.Va., Jesse H. Baltimore, Md.; daughters, June LaPrade, Roanoke, Jeannette Summers, Lorain, Ohio, Joyce Thompson, Bonita Springs, Fla.; brother, Earl Wilson, Lindside, W.Va.; sisters, Juanity Ward, Roanoke, Sara McCollam, Flat Top Lake, W.Va., Helen Littleton, Bradenton, Fla., Ann Mitchell, Roanoke, Alice Rasler, La Grange, Ind.; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, W.Va. at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 1994 with the Rev. Mark Schrade officiating. DUDDING, Julia Sarah Teaford, 59, of Eagle Rock, died Tuesday, November 29, 1994. She is survived by her husband, Emmett H. Dudding Jr.; two sons, Emmett H. Dudding III, Roanoke, Malcolm Lee Dudding, Eagle Rock; four sisters, Mrs. Claudine Barger, Fincastle, Mrs. Hattie Rogers, Vinton, Mrs. Dorothy Watkins, Natural Bridge, Mrs. Betty Miller, Florida; two brothers, Bobby A. Teaford, Eagle Rock, Bernard M. Teaford, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. GROSS, Worthington John, 85, of Salem, formerly of Chevy Chase, Md., died Thursday, November 24, 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly G. Heller, Potomac, Md., and Adele Morris, Salem; seven granddaughters, Katherine Heller, Pamela Heller, Elizabeth Heller, Virginia H. Smith, Laura Heller, Nora Morris, and Emmalee Morris. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 4, 1994, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Salem. HARTMAN, Ralph, 73, of Roanoke County, died Wednesday, November 30, 1994. Mr. Hartman was retired from Singer Furniture Company with 26 1/2 years of service and also worked 9 years for Graham White Manufacturing Co. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Juanita Bean Hartman; a son, Michael Lynn Hartman, of Roanoke County; grandson, Brandon Michael Hartman; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Peggy Hartman, Harry Hartman, Ray and Christeen Hartman, all of Roanoke County; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Leonard Leffel, Roanoke County; a brother-in-law, Roscoe Hylton, Roanoke. JACOBS, Dora W., 81, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 1994, in the Richfield Retirement Center. She was born June 6, 1913, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late H.P. Walker and Susan Buckley Walker. Her husband was the late Roy H. Jacobs. She was a retired employee of Belding-Corticelli and was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Buckley Jacobs. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jacobs, Carrollton; a granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Greg Noel, Smithfield. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 1, 1994, at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Glenn Langston. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. LONG, Iris Bozarth, 82, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, November 30, 1994. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Norfolk. Surviving is her husband, Ralph E. Long; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Austin and Judith A. Bozarth, Norfolk, Gerald Weeks and Phyllis M. Bozarth, Elizabeth, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Benny G. and Iris Bozarth Fortner, Roanoke; nine grandsons; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rita H. and Roy E. Havice, Marjorie H. MANUEL, Elizabeth Carter, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. formerly of Roanoke, died Monday, November 28, 1994, in a nursing home in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. Mrs. Manuel was born in Gatesville, N.C. and was the widow of George C. Manuel Sr. Before moving, she was a member of the Huntington Court United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, George Manuel, Chesapeake, William Manuel, Killen, Ala.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Burial Park, 1:30 p.m Friday with the Rev. Walter M. Locklett Jr. officiating. McGRAW, Celeste Anna Mabry, 91, of Appalachia, died Tuesday, November 29, 1994, in the Lonesome Pine Hospital. Born in Roanoke, she had made her home in the Wise County area and Florida before returning to Appalachia this year. She was of the Bahai faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dewey McGraw; her mother, Maude Ferguson Bryan; her brother, Joseph Burks Mabry, and her sister, Ola Mabry Thrasher all of Roanoke. Surviving are her son, Edward H. McGraw, Wise; daughter, Martha Houseman, Appalachia; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two nephews. She formerly was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at the Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Pallbearers will be Audie McGraw and Roy Steffey of Wise and Stephen Mabry and Hugh Thrasher of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, family requests a chairtable donation. ROSS, Harry Peyton, 98, of Radford, passed away Saturday, November 26, 1994, in a Florida retirement center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in France during World War I. Mr. Ross was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Radford, the VA May Lod ge #38 A.F. & A.M., and the Patrick-Henry Allied Families of VA. Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Charles G. and Elva Ross of Winter Park, Fla.; one daughter, Ms. Sally Ross Hanna, Deming, N.M.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 2, 1994, at 11 a.m. at the Central Cemetery in Radford with Rev. Claud W. McCauley officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 776. SMITH, Russell Adams, 84, of Bethesda, Md., formerly of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, November 30, 1994, in a Washington, D.C. hospital. He attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and spent his entire career in automobile sales. He was employed by Frank Small, Jr. Ford in Washington for a time and was owner of Smith-Kidd Motors in D.C. during the 1950's and 1960's. He was then employed at Dick Herriman Ford in Tysons Corner until his retirement in the mid 1980's. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Fay Smith in 1989 and is survived by three daughters, Linda Lightfoot, Lexington, Ky., Phyllis McLeod, Leesburg and Margaret Sears, Potamic, Md.; cousins in Christiansburg are Virginia Deal La wrence and Mary Eileen Houston. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. Sally King and Rev. Walt Simmerman with burial in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Auburn United Methodist Church, Riner, Va. 24149. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday morning at Richardson-Horne in Christiansburg.
