CHRISTIANSBURG - Three familiar farm agencies have been brought together under one roof and one name in Montgomery County. The Farm Service Agency office at 7 N. Franklin St. combines the activities of the former Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, the Farmers Home Administration and the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation.
The new agency also offers conservation cost-share assistance under the Agriculture Conservation Program and cost-sharing and land rental payments for the Conservation Reserve Program. The new name and restructuring are a result of a U.S. Department of Agriculture restructuring that went into effect in October.
Guy W. Wall is the acting chairman of the Montgomery Farm Service Agency. W. Terry Altizer is the county executive director.
