STRAIGHT STREET BACKERS PLANNING YOUTH NIGHT

A group that hopes to open a Straight Street Christian youth center in Roanoke will hold a promotional youth night Saturday at Grace Baptist Temple, 1527 Gilford Road N.W.

The event is designed to give seventh- through 12th-graders a taste of the plans for the center, which is to be modeled on similar centers in Lynchburg and Christiansburg.

No site for the center has been chosen, organizers said.

The group Holy Wind will perform Saturday, pool tables will be set up and food will be available. The event, from 7 to 11 p.m., also is open to parents.

Admission is free.
