REPORTED EARNINGS

Best Products Co. Inc., Richmond retailer, reported a net loss of $745,000, equal to 2 cents per share, on sales of $332.8 million for its third quarter ended Oct 29, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $18.2 million on sales of $330.2 million. Net loss per common share was not reported for the 1993 period, when the stock of the predecessor company was not publicly traded under a plan of reorganization during bankruptcy.

For the nine months, Best reported a net loss of $7.1 million, equal to 22 cents per share on sales of $918.8 million, compared with year-earlier net loss of $55 million on sales of $882.7 million.

Circuit City

Circuit City Stores Inc. said Thursday its earnings for the third quarter, ended Nov. 30, will exceed analysts projections, which average 26 cents per share. The company said it will report earnings on Dec. 14.
