ROANOKE VETERANS' GROUP TO RECEIVE AWARD

The Roanoke Regional Office of the Department of Veterans Affairs has been recognized for its efforts to honor the veterans of World War II.

The Department of Defense's 50th Anniversary of World War II Commemorative Community will present a flag and certificate to James A. Maye, director of the office, in recognition of the office's participation in the commemorative community program.

Bob Slaughter, chairman of the Roanoke Valley Veterans Council World War II Commemorative Community, will make the presentation at 10 a.m. Dec. 7.
